Global Disaster Relief: IoT to the Rescue
Global disasters wreak havoc on economies, cause devastating fatalities, and can throw regions into flux for years. An approach to disaster relief through IoT can be met twofold – first through a proactive approach and second through a reactive approach.
In the first, sensors can be leveraged broadly to monitor environmental conditions to help predict disasters, whether those are earthquakes, wildfires, floods, or otherwise. Predictive modeling can help create advance warning systems or even put action in place to mitigate the worst of it.
From a reactionary standpoint, the right help and resources can be mobilized to respond appropriately to the disaster both locally and globally. IoT can certainly be a powerful approach, but key to this is having the right connectivity to power these solutions.
Recently, floLIVE Americas President Curtis Govan joined a panel of experts during IMC’s CES Preview during the session “Global Disaster Relief: IoT to the Rescue” to explore how IoT can be leveraged in this important sector.
